Steven Vick, Coffee Buyer and Quality Control Director for Intelligentsia, has found what sounds to be an amazing Rwandan coffee from a model coffee cooperative — Abangakurushwa. He tells the story of its discovery and drops a little general knowlede of the logistics of Rwandan coffee production on the Coffee Common website.

Being that one of my favorite coffee bars here in Oakland, CA — Modern Coffee — is set to begin carrying a selection of Intelligentsia beans in the very near future, I look forward to the possibility of tasting some Abangakurushwa myself.

  1. I like Ecco’s version of this, haven’t tried Intelly’s yet. Would you mind sharing your pouring method? I’ve been pretty happy with Barismo’s (bloom, couple of 90 sec. pours with a 20 sec pause between) but am always looking to try new things.
